For all models of Audi TT MK2 from 2005 onwards
Audi TT MK2 2005 – Present
This amplifier can be found in all models of the Audi TT Mk2 from 2005 forwards. It’s easy to spot as the speaker grilles will have the Bose logo on them. Note that we can only repair the models with the model numbers shown on this page. You’ll find the model number on the underside of the amplifier.
Diagnosing the problem
Failure of this amplifier is usually diagnosed because of a failure of specific speakers, be it one speaker, the sub woofer or all of them together. The headunit however always performs well and generally never fails.
Bose Repair Experts in Europe have pioneered the repair of this unit and passed on their expertise to us. Forums quite often try to explain that condensation is the problem that damages the circuit boards however Bose Repair Experts have demonstrated with microscopes that it is actually a build up of grit that is forced through a gap in the inner wing of the TT. Grit contains salt which quickly corrodes the boards.
It is not possible to repair or make safe a unit that has been burnt out or caught fire. Again, opening your amplifier and sending us a clear image of the circuit board will allow us to give you a better idea of whether it is repairable.
This is one of the easier amplifiers to remove and takes about ten minutes. You’ll need a T30 Torx driver (if your car has a luggage clip), a 10mm Ring spanner and a plastic/rubber lever for boot seal (although not 100% necessary).
